| Abstract | This paper constructs a simple model to discuss the effect of labor price distortion on product quality upgrading. Based on this, we verify empirically this hypothesis by using some data from 1996 to 2001. The estimation results show that: there exists a distinct nonlinear relation between labor price distortion and export product quality upgrading. Besides this, we also find that R&D, human capital and labor skills could retrain the direction and degree of labor price distortion on export product quality upgrading in China. |
