Abstract | China experiences new market-oriented industrial shifts and regional pattern planning under the pressure of economic structure adjustment. Under this, this paper follows market rules, with the angle of firm migration and labor mobility, to reveal the micro-mechanism of industrial shifts and the evolution of spatial pattern. The study finds: firstly, price index effects, market demand effects and competition effects are main factors impacting firm migration, and yet in the economy of lower technology, low-tech firms are more sensitive to market conditions; secondly, labor flows are influenced by firms distribution and themselves’ preference, and the latter has larger impacts with the progress of society; thirdly, heterogeneous preference and the amount of labors have reverse influence on firm migration, and the stronger labor preference and the more decreasing labors will boost firms to go after labor markets; finally, though industrial agglomerations last for long term, firm migration will increase and then boost the transformation of regional pattern from single center to multi-centers. Therefore, these conclusions have significant reference values for industrial development strategy, population management and social security policy and regional development strategy. |
