Abstractentative or People's Political Consultative Committee Member) are more likely to donate and donate more. There is no significant difference in terms of firm donation likelihood and amount between business owners who are Communist Party or other Democratic Party members and those who are not. Firms whose owners are members of local industry associations are more likely to donate and donate more while firms whose owners are members of National Industry & Commercial Association are more likely to donate, but not necessarily donate more. These findings suggest the significant net influence of business owners’ individual characteristics on firm philanthropy behavior even controlling for the organizational influences proposed by the slack resource theory or institutional theory. They also suggest that perspectives of social expectation or role playing of business owners can be used to explain the variances of firm philanthropy.
