| Abstract | In this paper, we review major economic studies on wage and wage equation of Chinese urban labor market during its transition from a planning economy to a market economy. We focus on the role of education, experience, gender, communist party membership, ownership, industry and region in the wage determination in China. Based on the review, we point out limitations of current studies and suggest direction for future research. |
