During August 25-27, Prof. Yang Ruilong, dean of School of Economics, Renmin University of China (RUC), together with Tang Zhong, Director of Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, and Guo Honglin, Director of Personnel, visited University of Costa Rica (UCR).At the council meeting of Confucius Institute at UCR, School of Economics, RUC signed a cooperation agreement with the Institute of Economics, UCR in the morning of 26 August. Prof. Yang Ruilong and Max Soto Jimenez, director of Institute of Economics, UCR, represented each university at the meeting. Attendants in the signing ceremony include Tang Zhong, Guo Honglin, Sheng Xiwen, Education Section of Chinese Embassy official in Costa Rica, Prof. Fan Sujie, Chinese director of Confucius Institute, Prof. Ana Sittenfeld, Officer of International Affairs at UCR and Prof. Mayra Achio, director of Confucius Institute. It was the first cooperation agreement between School of Economics RUC and major universities in Latin America. Contents of the agreement include joint research, common forum, exchange of scholars and research data by the two sides, in areas such as international trade, economic development, income distribution and equality in the labor market.
UCR is the most famous national university in Costa Rica. Mr. Burgues, Costa Rica's ambassador in China, Ms. Doris Osterlof, former deputy minister of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica, Prof. Ana Sittenfeld, Officer of International Affairs at UCR, and Max Soto Jimenez, director of Institute of Economics of UCR, have visited the School of Economics, RUC and conducted exchanges on cooperation between both sides.
In the afternoon of August 26, Prof. Yang Ruilong, Tang Zhong, Guo Honglin, Max Soto Jimenez and other five professors touched all bases in research areas and cooperation between both sides, and made a series of results in the meeting. Sheng Xiwen, Education Section of Chinese Embassy official in Costa Rica, also attended the meeting.
