The "Chinese Medical System Reform - Evaluation and Outlook Forum" was held successfully at the Liulin campus of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) on June 12th, 2010. This forum was hosted by Editorial Department of Economic Research, Economics and Management Academy of SWUFE, and School of Economics of SWUFE. At the forum, over sixty well-known economists, youth scholars and experts had a high-level, interdisciplinary and in-depth discussions and communications on hot issues of Chinese medical system. Scholars are those from Peking University, Tsinghua University, China Medical University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shandong University, Central South University, Sichuan University and other renowned universities and experts are those who work in the frontline of medical and health field are from the Chinese Cochrane Center, Beijing Armed Police General Hospital, People's Hospital of Wuhou district in Chengdu City of Sichuan Province.
This forum received enthusiastic responses from theorists and industrialists. It received more than one hundred English or Chinese papers and selected 16 high quality papers after a rigorous review. In the forum, scholars presented fruitful research results and had lively discussions in the following four major themes: “the Evaluation of Fairness and Efficiency of Medical Insurance System Reform and the Impact of This Reform on Economic Development”, “Health Needs and Their Interactions with Economic Factors”, “Health and Supplies of Medical Resources”, and “Measures and Prospects of Medical Reform”.
