Abstract:Optimal Import and industrial policies are derived in a world of imperfect competition with asymmetric information. The main findings are as follows. If duopolys play Cournot, the policy rule that could induce domestic firm to reveal its true type will implement the ex\|post efficient outcome. However, if we consider spatial competition in circular\|city, production subsidy is equivalent to tariff and we can not get first\|best outcome. Indeed, the constant tariff equal to unit transportation cost is optimal. our results imply that optimal intervention and whether it can eliminate the efficiency loss for asymmetric information depend on the type of competition instead of the information structures, and it will not be distorted. |
