• Distortion in National Accounts, structural Deflation and Institutional Barriers—An Analysis of Chinas Current Macroeconomic situation |
Abstract:Most of the nations who have taken transitions in the development and institution are undergoing inflation to some extent, but there are both deflation and rapid growth in China. The cause in China is the severe distortion in both demand and supply structures resulting from the control of prices and industrial barriers to enter. In one way,the share of food in household consumption is almost 50% while the proportion of agriculture providing food over GDP is less than 20%.In another way,a lot of capital and assets brought about by incremental reform cannot be allocated efficiently. The over\|heated competition in manufacture industry is one of its results and it depresses the supply and demand of service industry of the fastest growth rate.Because of the errors of overestimated industrial growth rate and underestimated added value of service industry, there are underestimation in aggregate output and distortion in economic structure. Therefore, the analysis and adjustments of Chinese macroeconomy cannot only refer to short term, aggregate volume and policy factors.Long term, structure and institution elements should be taken into account. |

• The Risk of Monetization of Housing Distribution and Its Choice |
Abstract:Housing reform in China has encountered many problems and reversals although the target had been made rather clear long ago.The crucial point is,different from other rationed products, housing involved both the current account and the capital account,it can not be dealt with in only one.after introducing two kinds of subsidy, namely, stock subsidy and incremental subsidy, there is no longer any serious obstacle to raise the price or rent of the housing to meet the market equilibrium. One of the preconditions of the solution is breaking the unit ownership and pushing forward the socialization of the housing management. The more thoroughly to follow the principle of equity, the more easily and rapidly to complete the transition. |

• Gender Inequality in Chinas Land Tenure System |
Abstract:After Statistical analysis of the sample survey conducted in the rural areas of Shanxi Province of China in 1996,this paper attempts to demonstrate the gender issue in the land tenure system. It is proved that although the legislative framework and economic institutions protect generally gender equality in land distribution, there are still loopholes in the detailed institutional arrangements that lead to the insecurity of women′s land rights.Divorced women are lack of protection of their land rights and that both the women migrated due to marriage and then their children who missed the opportunities of the land redistribution undertaken in their village communities cannot temporarily obtain land tenure.Although these phenomena have not yet significantly affected the intra\|household bargaining power of the rural women,it did tend to bring the landless women′s households into poverty. Therefore,it is necessary to add some articles even a chapter cencerning the gender to the current Land Administrative Law and government regulations with regard to the tenure on farmland. |

• Communication and Transaction |
Abstract:This paper formally introduces communication into transaction in order to deepen the study of the contract theory. As one of the indispensable factors in transaction, communication helps the trading parties to reach a legally binding contract and enables the parties to arrive at a common understanding of the implicit rules. The second function is vital for the implementation of the legal contract that is bound to be incomplete. We lay out a theoretical framework for the study of communication and apply it to investigate how communication can mitigate the negative effects of cultural differences in the case of foreign direct investment.Several empirically testable propositions are established and policy implications are discussed in this paper. |
